Gimmick or Not; Silicone “Sponge”

Silicone Sponge

I may have shared with you guys my love for Youtube Makeup Gurus. Watching their talent is something I could do for hours on end. I have done it hours on end. Seeing them bring their ideas and inspirations to life is so incredible. In watching their videos, I find things I want to try or have to have. It DOES cause me to spend a lot of money but, That’s okay right? We’ll call it retail therapy. A few months ago the trend was the Silicone Sponge, aka Silisponge. I even saw youtubers partaking in challenges of using a silicone bra inserts to apply makeup too. Okay, it got a little bit out of hand but, I still wanted to give it a shot. I thought this might be a gimmick but at the same time I feel I may have thought that same thing over a $20 Beauty Blender when they first started becoming popular too. Granted, I wasn’t spending $20 on this silicone sponge applicator. I found and purchased one too.

Silicone Sponge First Impressions

Silicone SpongeFirst Thought: Impressed

Not going to lie, I was really, really impressed with the application. It looked smooth. At first, I felt it was a little bit bulky ( ironically ) compared to the beauty sponge. Being flat instead of rounded it took a second to adjust. I used my no makeup makeup routine.  The end result of the application was very pretty. Blending out concealer and foundation was super easy.

Lack of Control

I had watched the videos and they said they didn’t absorb product ( obviously ) like a beauty sponge did. It was really easy to apply the product to my face. However, the runnier products were harder to control than the thicker foundations I use. A few of my foundations are a little thicker in consistency than others and the thinner formulas seemed to slip in a sense.

Blending Cream Contour

I have always struggled using cream contour and highlights. I thought, why not try it out too? So, I attempted blending out the NYX WonderStick. Normally, I blend it with a beauty sponge and it becomes patchy. I’ve just quit using any cream contour because I don’t like the way it ends up looking. The silisponge allowed it to blend out so easily and beautifully. No harsh lines or patchy coloring. This is the way I have been applying cream contour since I bought this!

It is SUPER easy to clean which I love. I always rinse and wet my beauty sponge before I use it but this I can simply wipe off the product. It’s easily removed with a makeup wipe. After I apply my foundation, I wipe it off to apply my concealer and the same process before applying me contour. It’d be great to use on a busy day full of several makeup applications!

Final Thought

After about a week of using the Silisponge, I haven’t stopped using it. I reach for both my beauty sponge and my silisponge. I think the beauty sponge gives a smoother softer end result. Blending and application is easier ( to me ) with the silisponge. After I applied my full face, I looked at myself in a magnified mirror. The application wasn’t as beautiful and flawless as I had initially thought. However, I was able to take a damp beauty sponge and just dab it a little around my face to give the finish that a beauty sponge does. You know, the one everyone loves?

I will continue applying my makeup with the Beauty Sponge to soften my application but, I love the application of the silicone applicator. I think it is a great way to save product. It is always frustrating to me to think about how much cream product I waste. There’s a lot that is absorbed into my sponge that is just wasted. With the silicone sponge I avoid the absorption, I use was less product, and it’s super easy to apply. But, I have been going back in to “set down” my foundation and concealer with my beauty sponge too.

Have you tried the silisponge? What were your thoughts?

Accidental Weekend “Haul”

Ever have an accidental haul? Where you don’t even realize until you get home and pull all the stuff out. That happened to me this past weekend. After wrecking my vehicle Friday morning I lost / misplaced a ton of my make up that I use when I apply makeup for clients. So, Saturday morning, in preparation for prom hair I had to grab some makeup. Then, after I got off work my parents and I ran to Little Rock to get my phone fixed at the Apple Store.

Conveniently, the Apple Store is dropped right in the middle of the cutest little shopping center Arkansas has ever seen. There’s TONS of good shopping and eating there which makes the hour you spend waiting for the Apple Geniuses go back extremely quickly. We ate at the big orange and while I sipped on a delicious Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake we browsed.

Madewell Jeans

I’ll just say my mom and I have discovered Madewell and we are OBSESSED! I have followed Madewell on instagram forever but I didn’t really know much about them. They’re owned by the same company as J. Crew ( if I understood correctly ) but they are a little more casual. They’re known for their denim and I now know why. I picked up these Red High Rise Jeans. These jeans are great because one they’re comfy and two, they were $30!! Just go ahead and grab you a pair for that price because I promise you will not regret it! I’ve worn them already 3 times and I might just decide to wear them again! I am IN LOVE. They’re so soft and comfortable. Comfort in a pair of jeans is my FAVORITE thing to find. These things are like jammies; which I also love.

Charming Charlie’s

We also stopped in Charming Charlie’s. That store has ALWAYS been overwhelming to me. There’s just so much going on. I walk around in there with serious sensory overload because theres so many things catching my eye. I slowly wondered around while my mom looked for something she needed. As we were checking out I spied 3 things that I needed. 2 of which are these sun glasses. I love cheap plastic sunglasses. After losing 5 pairs of Raybans I decided cheap was my way to go.

These two pairs of sunglasses were 2 pair for $15! The Black Pair and The Pink Pair. Uh, you cannot beat that. I love these because they’re not your typical sunnies but also they don’t have rubber nose pieces to get caught in your hair. In the summer, when I’m poolside or at the lake  I hate when my hair is wet and my sunglasses rip my hair out. I cannot stand that. These are nose piece free and I am smitten over that blush pair. The other items I had to have was the pony tail bracelet that was floating around pinterest for a pretty penny. My mom found Logan and I both one for only $10! Just a couple of goodies you can never have too many of.

Flower Beauty Shimmer and Shade Eyeshadow Palette – Intense Natural
Let me preface this by saying, I have wanted this brush in this palette for, basically, ever. I wasn’t all around stunned with the colors of the palettes I just liked the brush. Secondly, I should have known by the title of the palette is was shimmery. With that being said, I wasn’t all around impressed with this palette and that really makes me sad. Last but not least, I do like the palette.
Small Rant:  It’s really hard to find eyeshadow palettes at the drugstore. I love a good palette that I can create multiple looks with plus, it makes traveling with makeup 100x easier.
Like I just said I do like this palette. The color are beautiful and they wear well throughout the day without getting creasing or moving around ( if you use Primer ). The pigment in the shadows is nice and there are a lot of great lid colors. But.. I can’t create a full eye look with this palette because all the shadows are shimmery. There are stunning colors in this. But, I have to dip into other palettes to make this one work for me. There isn’t a transition shade which makes blending difficult. This palette has a lot going for it. I can’t say I’d repurchase this knowing what I know now.
P.S. The brush though.. it’s a wonderful drugstore blending brush.
Real Techniques Beauty Sponge

ALLLLL the beauty bloggers I follow talk about how much they love this sponge. “It’s a dupe for the beauty blender,” they claim. I’m one of those people who repeats the things I like. I have sponged I like so when it’s time to repurchase I always buy the same ones. Well, it was that time again. So, when I went to pick up these other miscellaneous items I grabbed a pack of these sponges to give a test run. I love them. I’ve felt of them before and thought they were a little stiff. I don’t know if they have redesigned them or what but, oh, man!

I wash my sponge every morning before I put my makeup on. They work better damp and clean so it’s just a habit I have. They wash so nicely and apply my makeup even better! This sponge is so soft and easy to work with. one end is flat while the other is pointed. I use the flat side to apply my foundation all over my face and it works perfectly. Then, obviously the pointed end to apply concealer and such. I cannot believe I have waited so long to get on the bandwagon with these!

L’Oréal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream – Anti-redness
If you read mybare fair makeup post, you probably saw I recommended green primer and BB Cream. Both of those product, which I love, are not cheap. When buying two that is even harder on the budget, right? I stumbled upon this BB Cream and I am loving it. I struggle with redness in my cheeks and around nose. Almost all BB Creams require me to use a Concealer of some sort to hide the redness that peeps through the coverage.
This green primer goes on green to reduce redness but blends out and turns to a shade to help give coverage too. Funny Story: I was applying this at work one day. I just put it one with my fingers and was going in to add a little Concealer and I noticed when I touched my face it was changing colors. A coworker and I were mind blown until I discovered that it changed colors.. which took a few minutes to realize. Anyway, I thought it’d be something I could use to minimize redness in my cheeks and then I’d apply my makeup on top. The coverage is great for everyday. I am absolutely loving this product.
Maybelline Colossal Mascara

Oh, girl. I always try out new mascaras then go back to the ones I REALLY love once I get tired of trying out different ones. This mascara I used to use a LONG time ago. I was in a hurry and forgot so I just snatched this up while in the check out line. I always forget how much I love mascaras until something like this occurs. The brush is really fluffy brush. It gives GREAT volume and length. Colossal makes my lashes fat without taking away their length which is something I struggle to find. MY lashes are long but not super thick so I need something that will thicken them up but not shorten them too. This mascara.. if you decide you need anything from this haul.. let it be this one!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer : Shade – Fair
This is a repurchase for me. I love this concealer. It is said to be a dupe for NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. In my opinion: it’s much creamier and the consistency isn’t as thick as the NARS. Lately, I have been trying different concealers because the people request it and I want to deliver. All the concealers I’ve tried in recent months are great for different things but this is still one of my favorites. I love the consistency of this Concealer.
I have problems with concealers settling in my undereye area and between my forehead (because ya girl needs a little Botox) Fit Me Concealer doesn’t seem to get crepey in my fine lines under my eyes, it’s not drying, and it doesn’t settle or separate. This concealer is one of Maybelline’s Best Sellers. It has natural Coverage, is lightweight and Oil-free.  My undereyes look very hydrated rather that powdery and dry. You know the look I’m talking about. If not I can link ya some pictures of me looking a little dehydrated. The Fit Me Concealer is extremely light weight and the blendability is wonderful. If you don’t feel like your blending skills are that of King Kylie you should give this a go. The coverage is very nice without it totally giving away the fact that yes, actually, I have concealed my undereyes.
Wet N’ Wild Mega Glow Highlighter : Precious Petals
If you’re like me and you prefer a softer highlight this is your girl. Mega Glo is a powder Highlight / blush that will give you a beautiful glow. It gives off enough of a sheen to let your skin glow but not too much. And I believe in too much highlight. Ya know? I have caught myself thinking, no one is fooled by all that glow on your face. But, for the most part, I like my makeup to be fairly natural. Natural might be a stretch of the word but I don’t like it to look overdone. You know what I’m saying. Mega Glo gives your skin a glow rather than full on holy cow highlight. It has a teensy bit of glitter that I noticed dusted off pretty quickly then your left with a beautiful shimmer. This is a great drugstore highlight.
I have been SEARCHING high and low for a good highlighter from the drug store none just awed me. The cream ones seem to separated and we’re extremely intimidating to apply on top of your dressing foundationed skin. While others didn’t do what I was hoping. This one did. Wet N Wild never lets me down. I apply it at the top of my blush, almost overlapping my blush at the apple of my cheek. And, of course, on the tip of my nose and Cupid’s bow because.. Kathleen Lights told me to. It looks beautiful whether I wear a lot of makeup or barely there makeup.
Maybelline BrowPrecise Micro Crayon : Dark Brown

Usually, I go for the L’oreal Brow Stylist. I picked this one up by accident and I have been pleasantly surprised. The consistency of this is very similar to the consistency of the Brow Stylist and really like the Anastasia Brow Wiz. I was let down by the Anastasia Brow Wiz. This Micro Crayon is so easy to apply and use. It’s a really creamy formula and applies so smoothly. Once my brows are filled in they stay all day. That was part of my let down with the Brow Wiz. It didn’t stay well and smeared easily. This one ( and the L’Oreal Brow Stylist ) last all day!

This is hardly a “haul” in comparison but I some newly purchased items I am liking and some I’m not. I have tried out several new items and I am continuously looking for new stores and brands to share with you guys. Even new styles I think you guys would like are always in search. I am loving most of the product especially the jeans! Have you tried anything new lately or are you loving something you’ve loved for a long time? Let me know!

Bare Faced Makeup

Bare Face Makeup

Bare Faces and great complexions are another beautiful perk of summer time. Have you caught on that I love summer yet? Being able to leave the house with barely there makeup makes me want to dance the night away.. and I’ll have time because I didn’t spend an hour doing my makeup.

My freckles pop out, my dark circles start to disappear, and my tan face is welcomes with open arms. Lucky for all of us, we can partake in bare faces under the premise of fashion. I love a good excuse not to wear makeup. If I can get away with it I’m out on spending the time to put on a full face of makeup. Plus, in the summer I don’t want to spend all that time putting on my makeup and then turn around and sweat it off. That’s unattractive on so many levels!

Bare Face Makeup

If only men knew what girls go through to looks effortless. It’s seriously takes more effort for me to look effortless than it do for me to look like I actually put in effort! That’s bad! Bare Face Makeup is still makeup. It may be take less time but effortless isn’t actually effortless. This may take less time but it still takes time! Also, I’m by no means the Queen of Bare Face Makeup. I would say I’m self-proclaimed queen of full faces of makeup and HAND DOWN Queen of NO Makeup. But, I know what I like and this is a list of things I use for No makeup Makeup.

Color Correcting Primer

Because we want this to appear like we’re hardly wearing any makeup a Color Correcting Primer is a great start to this look. If you’re like me you have some discoloration on your face. Mine happens to come in the form of VERY rosy cheeks. I look like I always have on blush. It’s a gift really. jk. it’s annoying. You can always tell when I have rubbed my cheek against something because you can see that redness start peaking through! If you’re skeptical of this product, try L’Oreal Studio Secret if you are convinced go for the Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer. A color correcting primer will balance out the discoloration and cancel out those colors to create a more neutral canvas.

BB Cream

( Applied after primer because I stand firm about using primers. ) A light coverage BB Cream to kind of Bare Face Makeup’s Love Language. If you’re uncomfortable with wearing this light of coverage light – medium foundation will work just the same. When I wear bare makeup I like for my freckles to show through my foundation. I don’t mind some imperfections sneaking out into the look because it shows I wasn’t completely trying to hide everything. So, a light coverage will do. I love and use the Smashbox BB Cream. It’s a nice coverage and I like the way it feels on my skin. It sets down nicely and isn’t tacky. You know I hate that. Some BB Creams cover little to nothing. Also, the NYX BB Cream and Maybelline BB Cream are two I’ve used a loved. Plus, this girl WILL be using some concealer you better believe it! If I’m going for this look I like to look like a real girl with flaw and all not a real girl with instagram makeup. You know what I’m talking about. I love instagram makeup, don’t get me wrong but it has no place in Bare Face Makeup. Ya feel me?

What’s a makeup look without concealer? Do you even wear makeup if you don’t wear concealer? My undereye circle don’t COMPLETELY disappear as my skin gets more tan in the summer. They just slightly disappear. Obviously, Concealer is a must. I’m not talking Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. That’s some instagram makeup stuff. That’s photoshoot ready makeup. I’m talking, Nyx HD Photo Concealer is more along the lines of the coverage I want / need. It’s one of my favorites. ( You can read about it here. ) Not too little but not too much either. Somewhere nicely in the middle. Medium Coverage, yeah?

I love a good contour. Personally, I believe my cheeks should be etched out. There should be no doubting where my cheek bone is and where the hollow of my cheek is either. You know RIGHT where it is. No assumption necessary. But, with this look, I’d look a bit ridiculous with “Bare” makeup and totally carved out cheek bones. So, I’ve been loving some other bronzers instead of my Kat Von D Palette. Don’t get me wrong; I love her still. Lately, I have been reaching for the Physcian’s Formula Butter Bronzer. And it smells like a vacation in the tropics! <– for that reason I’m using it all day everyday! It gives a beautiful subtle bronzing without overdoing it and still gives you a little bit of the contouring effect I know and love.

Of Course everyone would say the Cult Favorite instantly, Nars Orgasm. I would too, normally. I have worn this blush off and on for years! As a matter of fact, one year for christmas I asked for this blush and perfume from Victoria’s Secret called Pure Seduction. ( Do they still make that? That would take me back! I’d be 16 again. ) My mom laughed when I opened them saying she couldn’t believe she bought those for me. Anyway, it is great for my complexion year round and I do love it. But, in the fun and spirit of new things, I’m recommending the the Makeup Revolution Blush Palette. First off, it gives you such a wide range of options. Secondly, for the price the quality of these products are great! ( It’s only TEN DOLLARS!! )

Okay, again, let me brag about Makeup Revolution. I love this palette and I mean LOVE it! This is the only palette I travel with anymore. Lately, I am just loving warm colors for my eyes. This palette covers that but, I can also make a neutral ( I see what you did there, Makeup Revolution ) New-Trals vx Neutrals covers all my bases as far as palette goes. I don’t even need anything else. But, this look is also great when you use the Naked Basics Palette by Urban Decay. Which is how I achieved this look!

Obvisouly, I’m going to be using L’Oreal Primer because hello, I love it. Then, Benefit They’re Real Mascara. I’m not usually an advocate for High End Mascara. I’ve tried all kinds and I’m just eh on most but, this mascara is so stinking good! With Bare Makeup Makeup, we don’t want full on High Volume // Max Thickness Lashes. ( Actually, we always want that. ) That doesn’t compliment the look correctly. What we really want to go for is volume. This mascara will rock. your. world. Great volume, great staying power, and just great mascara.

I bought into the hype, you guys, and I tried out the Anastasia brow wiz bologna. I hate to say it but I was really unimpressed. My brows didn’t stay filled in and beautiful like I expected they would ( because my drug store does at least that) It wasn’t super was to apply and I felt the formula was really waxy. I got on the bandwagon and it was no fun! Maybe I’m the only one and I’m okay with that but, it wasn’t for me. So, I’ll safe myself $10 and use L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer. Having perfectly drawn on brows also isn’t something you want for this makeup look plus, lets be honest thats not easy which IS something we want out of this look. This pencil lasts, the formula is nice and easy to apply. It doesn’t drag as I apply it and it doesn’t smear.

| Shirt – Forever 21 Red | Necklace – Beaucoup Designs   | Choker – Walmart ( in store ) |

If you’re like me, you know doing barely there makeup isn’t the easiest. It’s really easy to go above and beyond. And by that, I mean, it’s really easy to get a little heavy handed with your makeup. Even when you’re doing no makeup makeup it’s easy to over do it! With these products, I’ve found it’s really easy to stay light handed and keep the bare makeup look! I hope to see your looks. Let me know which products YOU love!

Favorites Roundup

I have always loved checking out everyones favorites. It’s my favorite videos to watch on youtube. Reading blogs about peoples favorites gives me new products to try and I am always down to try out new things. Seeing what people are purchasing, using and loving is so fun to me. So, I decided I’d write about some of my most recent favorites.

// Fashion // Favorites

Over sized Blush Pull Over

Forever 21 RARELY disappoints. Am I too old to still like forever 21 clothing? Possibly. But, who cares? This sweatshirt is one of those items you know immediately you should have bought two. Unfortunately, Forever 21 Red is what is nearest to me. You can’t shop them online. 🙁 But, lucky for you guys this thing showed up at your regular Forever 21! You can purchase it –> Here

It’s super soft and lightweight. And the color.. you already know I’m obsessing over anything blush. I absolutely love the shape of this. It’s extremely boxy but it’s so flowy you’d never know it. I’ve worn it every chance that I get! Like.. I’m wearing it now! It’s so comfy to wear. And we all know forever 21 is cheap! This sweatshirt was $22!! Does it get any better than that!? I can’t wait to wear it this spring with baggy distressed shorts and sandals!

Blush Sweater

As soon as I laid eyes on this sweater I knew it had to be mine!! Blush of course. It’s the epitome of comfort and fashion. I have lounged in it and dressed it up. It’s pretty lightweight so you can wear it without having to worry about getting too hot. That’s a huge bonus for me because I’m super hot natured. Doing hair is not the time you want to wear clothes that make you hot either!

The v-neck makes it so easy to wear off the shoulder or with a cute chunky necklace. I like to wear it both ways! My favorite way to wear this sweater though, is with my leopard booties! IT’s reasonably priced for a good quality sweater and you can come pick it up at Yaya and visit me too!

Holey Jeans

Because everyone needs shredded denim. You included! These are also a Yaya Clothing Boutique Special. I mean.. working there and seeing all the clothes all the time what do you expect?! Plus, if I like something I want it! And I want it now!

I’m actually not usually a fan of the boyfriend style jeans. I just think they don’t fit my body right but these changed my opinion. I love the vintage denim wash on these. What I like to call “old school Levi” style. They remind me of the jeans my grandpa wore when I was younger. Minus the holes.. My granny would have already patched them! But, the wash is the similar. These hit right at my ankles so I can wear them down or cuffed to change up the look. They washed so well, which I was concerned about. Holy Jeans don’t always come out of the washer and dryer in great shape but these jeans definite did!

I look forward to wearing these jeans ALL SUMMER! I’ve already gotten my money’s worth out of them but, I plan on getting MUCH more wear out of them. Finding a good pair of holey jeans you just love is hard to do but, I did it and I couldn’t be happier.

// Skin //Favorites

Virgin Coconut Oil

Okay, I’ll start with a disclaimer.. I have always had good skin. I didn’t fight acne as a teen, My skin was never exceptionally dry or oily, it wasn’t overly sensitive. But, I’ve taken advantage of that good fortune. At 27, I don’t really know how to properly care for my skin because I never HAD to do it. I would wash my face with whatever face wash or face wipe was handy. Still, I’m not sure what my skin TRULY needs. When I walk up and down skin care aisles I feel overwhelmed and frustrated. I think a lot of the skin care products out these days are a bit gimmicky. What do I REALLY NEED? I’m still not sure. But, as soon as I find out I’ll let you know,

Now, I am starting to see wrinkles on my forehead. So, I’ve changed up my moisturizing habits tremendously. For a while I used Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream and I will say, that does the job. But, I think my skin was dehydrated beyond belief. I started using coconut Oil. And to be honest, I’m floored at how different my skin looks. Even just after a couple of days my skin showed more life and brightness. It was no longer dull and matte looking. It looked hydrated and felt even better! I have been completely astounded by the results of this!

I wash my face at night and apply a small (Very small amount) on my face and neck. I’ve not ventured too far into using it all over the rest of my body because the scent is SO strong. But, I have put some on places on my body that are showing extra dryness. I even give a small amount to my dog to help his skin issues too. It’s shown to be very effective. Plus, Dock LOVES it!

Fake Bake Skin Polish + Self Tan

There’s a post coming soon about this combo. I’ll be sharing how I self tan. This stuff is fabulous. I haven’t ever been much of a self tanner. I either just show off my white legs or avoid skirts and shorts in public until I get a decent tan. This self tanner was recommended to me and its SO SO easy! If I’d known it was this easy I’d probably have started using it along time ago!

The application process is so simple! Once you have prepped your skin tanning your body is a cake walk. The prep work is the hardest part and its easy too! The Skin Polish is an exfoliant that prepares your skin for the self tanner without leaving oily residue. It makes your skin so soft! As you’re using it you can tell the product isn’t harsh on your skin. It’s not a rough exfoliant at all! After I shower I moisturize and then self tan.

This Particular Self Tan is the easiest self tanner I have ever used! IT’s in a pump spray bottle and comes with a mitt. You simply spray it onto the mitt and buff it into your skin! That easy. Let it dry and carry on with life as usual! One and Done!

You can also pick this up at Yaya Clothing Boutique!

Make Up Wipes

Who doesn’t love a good makeup wipe? I love the easy of a makeup wipe. The removal process of your makeup is made 1000x easier by using makeup wipes. Guess What. My favorite ones are the Equate Brand makeup wipes from walmart. Life made easy. My preference is the wipes that come in the small travel size packs. I find they don’t dry out as quickly and they’re much easier to throw into your bag when you travel.

I was SO excited when I stumbled upon this box of wipes. Loving the travel size packs, my day was made! You get 125 wipes total. Unfortunately, Its about $3 more than the 2 pack and you get 120 wipes with that. Honestly, for me, its worth it. I have used the big packs before and I end up having to use two wipes as I get 1/2 way through so, I get more days out of the box.

I’ve posted about them in my 5 Minute Morning post.. you can read that –> here.

L’oreal Visible Lift Blur Foundation

I have been struggling with wrinkles lately. I turned 27 in February and it’s like my body gave them to me as a birthday gift. Thanks a heap. They just seem to have popped up over night. My heavier foundations have started settling into said wrinkles, and ladies we just can’t have that. I’m only 27.

Personally, I don’t need heavy coverage. This foundation is very light coverage. Other than some redness on my cheeks, dark circles, and scattered winter freckles, I’m not trying to hide too much. This foundation covered exactly what I needed it to and didn’t settle into my fine lines. It’s tacky to the touch so, setting it is a must! That’s a very easy step if that’s the only downfall for this light coverage foundation, right?

To give a little extra coverage to some dark circles I simply put conceal (see below) to cover them and add a little brightness under my eyes.

Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs Neutrals Palette

If you have not tried out makeup revolution you TOTALLY should. I discovered them while watching Nicole Cutler on YouTube. She did a look using this particular palette and I had to have it! It’s perfect if you love warm toned shadows (me). The pigment and lasting power are great for a budget friendly. Ulta runs specials on this line all the time! I bought two palettes at 50% off. Right now the special is buy two get one free!

The drugstore often lacks in palettes with lots of color options but the brand helps makeup for it. I’ve created so many different looks with this palette. For that, it’s great for travel! There’s a row of neutrals and a row of more shades. Fun Fact: if your eyes are blue warm tones (shades of orange) will make your eyes POP!) I love this palette. At first I was a bit skeptical but, it has blown me away!

Maybelline Master Conceal

I know. I’m late to the party with this one. But, I have arrived no less. AND it made it to the Favorites list so… Like I have mentioned earlier in this post I’m dealing with wrinkles. Even fine lines under my eyes. Finding a concealer that doesn’t settle but has nice coverage has been quite the chore.

I try to avoid thick concealer. The feeling of product on my face isn’t my favorite. I prefer more natural looks. This concealer gives GREAT coverage and doesn’t sit heavily on my skin. Another perk, it’s super easy to blend out. Sometimes I find higher coverage products to be more difficult to blend but this one is an exception to the rule. It gives me great, long lasting coverage! This is a great option if you’re wanting a drugstore concealer.

Amika Un.Done Texture Spray

Being a Texture Spray Girl, I’ll try them all. So far, this one takes the cake! It’s not at all drying.. which if you followed along for very long you know that’s something I pay attention to. It gives GREAT texture and roughness. I love this texture Spray for its ability to texturize my fine hair and give me body and the beautiful mess I so desire! It’s in an aerosol can so it’s dry on the hair and never gets tacky. I. Am. Obsessed.

I sprayed it on my hair after I had curled it so I’d have the lived in look. I also used it on a client who has silky soft hair. It held her curls so well and gave her a tiny bit of texture. It’s definitely my new go to texture spray.

Amika The Shield Style Extender Spray

I believe everyone should have a UV Protectant in their hair routine. This one is a new favorite. It protects your hair from heat, sun, and frizz. In Arkansas Summer you know we face heat, sun and frizz. This will protect your hair against all those; Damage and color fade from the sun and frizz from the heat (and humidity). This Style Extender helps keep your style for days on end and keeps you looking GREAT! It’s a perfect summer product to add to your routine.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

Like Texture Spray, I also LOVE dry shampoo. I always want to try new dry shampoos. This one is a great one. It gives a slight powdery feel but, makes my hair look and feel SO clean! It absorbs my oils and gives me soft texture. I have used this daily since I purchased it. You can’t be too mad about dry shampoos when they make your hair feel clean. I know I have said, ” I love _____ dry shampoo,” so many times already on this blog but, I really do love this one. I love all dry shampoos as long as they make my hair feel clean and don’t leave a nasty residue. This one fits the bill and it smells so nice. It’ll be a repurchased item and staple for me. (I love it more the IGK and I love IGK)

Picking out my favorites is hard sometimes and other times I can name my favorites without a second thought. Some of these items made it through a long list of other favorites I had. Most of these, were an automatic answer. I knew right away which products would make the list. Some topics I had too many favorites to count. I have some new favorites, I can’t wait to share so, Stay tuned! If you try any of these let me know OR I’d love to hear some of your current favorites!

How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes

How To

Our makeup brushes get so dirty. We expose them to so much bacteria and germs. Cleaning brushes can seem like such a hassle. I have found a quick easy ‘how to’ that’ll take away the dread of cleaning your brushes and sponges!

Who is guilty of this thought? *begins applying makeup* “Oh, my goodness! My makeup brushes are gross! I need to clean them!” Applies makeup. *proceeds to forget the need to clean makeup brushes until next morning* //repeat//

*slowly raises hand* I’m SO BAD about this! I’m so bad it’s almost embarrassing. You know it’s past time when you consider throwing your Beauty Blender away instead of trying to wash it. I’ve been there. If I’m being honest that’s what sparked me writing this post.

So, Why do it?

I’m sure you’ve all wondered why it’s important.

Makeup Brushes are an Investment

A huge investment. I’m embarrassed at how much money I have spent on makeup brushes. Your brushes will last you so much longer when they’re properly cleaned.

Enough said? No. Our skin is fairly sensitive so if we’re constantly exposing it to dirty bacteria filled brushes we’re asking for breakouts. Your makeup brushes touch your makeup, the inside of your makeup bag, your counter top, your friends hands, the list is endless. They can accumulate a lot of germs. This could be causing your face to break out.

Yesterday’s Makeup

Or the past month’s makeup. Your makeup goes on much better when your brushes are clean. You don’t have blue eye shadow peaking out of your brush from three days ago as you’re trying to blend out your Nude, barely their eye shadow.

Your brushes do their job best when they’re clean. Is your fluffy powder brush now stiff? How is that contour going to be buffed out if the bristles on the brush don’t move? Clean your brushes. Your brushes, like your hair, needs cleaned because they’re dirty. There’s product built up, oils, and bacteria. Especially on your beauty sponge, foundation brushes, etc. Your makeup is building up on your brushes.

Convinced yet?

How do I do it?!

So, this is the easy part. It’s also a great opportunity to reshape your brushes. Here’s two ways I’ve found works for me.

Okay, truly there’s a million ways. Here’s one of the NEW ways I recently discovered this by accident. It works WONDERS on my beauty sponge too.

How To Clean Your Brushes && Sponges

What you need:
1. Dove Beauty Bar
2. Dirty Brushes
3. Warm Water
(Optional) Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum

Wet brushes and the bar of soap with warm water

I hold the bar of soap with the dove in my palm. The bar dips a bit and creates the perfect place to clean your brushes.

Rub the brush on the bar of soap.

Massage Soap into brush. Completely saturate your brushes with soap. Rinse and repeat until water runs clean. It’s amazing to see all that product break down and rinse away.

Reshape brush to its original shape and lay them out to dry.

Laying your brushes out in a well ventilated area allows them time to dry. I usually try to do them after I use them in the morning so they have almost 24 hours to dry.

Optional Step:

Put small amount of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum on your brushes. Massage into Brushes and reshape. Lay at angle to dry.

//Beauty Sponge//

Completely saturate sponge with warm water.

Saturate the sponge like you’re planning on applying your makeup. You want to use warm water to allow the product to be broken down most easily.

Rub sponge on bar of soap to absorb soap into sponge.

Be gentle with this process. Gently rub soap in the dip of the Beauty Bar. This process takes several times to completely rinse the product from your sponge. I clean my beauty sponge a couple of times a week and it still takes me a few rinses to get mine clean.

Squeeze sponge under running water.

After you have gotten the soap out of your sponge, saturate with water and rinse once more.

Repeat until all product is gone and water runs clear.

Let me know if you try this and what you love or didn’t love about this method! How do you clean your brushes? What do you use? I’d love to try some of  your recommendations!

Top 5 E.L.F Products – According to Lynlee

e.l.f. Cosmestics

E.L.F. Cosmetics are such a steal for their quality. Their prices are so cheap! I think they’re forgotten about. The products range from primers and skin care to eyelashes. They’re so nice and fun to use. I love grabbing E.L.F. products to try. They’re priced so affordably it’s easy to test out new products in their line. And it’s guilt free if you don’t like them. I’ve compiled a list of my top 5 + 1 favorite E.L.F. products.

This was super hard only picking 5 products. So hard I had to add one more! haha. I think so many of their products are so great! But, here’s the list. 5 products plus a bonus 1!

1. E.L.F. Brushes

E.L.F. Cosmetics

Does this count as just one? I love their brushes. Especially for the price. Many brands are represented in my brush collection. E.L.F. Brushes rank up there with some of the best.

Normally, I pretreat them by washing and conditioning them prior to use. Some of my brushes I’ve had for YEARS! Washing your brushes regularly will help their lifespan.

I have these brushes just to name a few. I think I have a full collection of E.L.F brushes.. that’s neither here nor there.

Small Angled Brush – $3.00 | E.L.F. Blending Brush – $3.00 | Powder Brush – $4.00 |
EyeShadow ‘C’ Brush – $4.00 | Beautifully Precise Sculpting Brush – $10.00 |

2. E.L.F. Makeup Mist & SetE.L.F. Cosmetics $3.00

E.L.F. Makeup Mist & Set is a hidden gem. Through the winter I don’t have to set my makeup but I do still want some extra pop in my eyeshadow. This is the key!

I spray my brush with this E.L.F. hidden gem before dipping into my shadow. It gives the color an extra pigmented pop. I also find myself Spray my beauty Sponge to keep it moist through my entire makeup application.

Since I don’t use Setting Spray on my whole face all the time it’s hard for me to spend a lot of money on a high end setting Spray. With the E.L.F. Setting Spray price tag at $3.00 I really can’t pass that up.

3. E.L.F. Brow Kit $3.00
E.L.F. Cosmetics

I’m particular about my brows. The E.L.F. Brow Kit is killer. My brows don’t get too harsh. It’s a pomade and powder to set the brows. You apply it with a brush. I feel this gives me a more natural brow than some of my other brow products.

This product doesn’t slide around on my face. That may make many of you laugh but you know what I’m talking about. When your eyebrow product doesn’t stay sharp as a makeup guru on Instagram’s brows.. you know!

If you just follow the natural shape of your brow and simply fill them in this style product is SO easy for you to use.

4. E.L.F. Powder Blush Palette – $6.00

E.L.F. Cosmetics

Heart. Eyes. Guys, this palette is so good. You get 4 blush colors. They’re beautifully pigmented and so easy to blend out. They’re more powdery than soft, creamy consistency. They look so beautiful on the skin and searched.

I chose this palette because I was stuck in a rut. I always use the same blush. All the time. A 2017 trend is bold cheeks. So, instead of using my traditional colors I purchased this palette.

There’s 4 different shades giving you a wide spectrum of options. Depending on your look you can go for bold and rosy or a little more muted.

5. E.L.F Cream Eyeliner – $3.00
E.L.F. Cosmetics

I love gel liner. The harsh, clean cut, bold line gel liner gives is beautiful. I love the drama of it. This Liner is no different. The E.L.F. Liner does not budge. It easy to apply. This Liner doesn’t drag on your lid. It’s easy to get a smooth, dark line. This liner didn’t irritate my eye when I applied it to my water line and stayed all day.

I use an E.L.F. Angled brush to apply this liner.

5+1 E.L.F Mad for Matte 2 Eyeshadow Palette – $10.00

E.L.F. Cosmetics

This is a freebie. The going youtube trend is warm tones for eyeshadow. This matte palette is glorious. It’s so pretty and pigmented. I find a lot of times drugstore palettes don’t blend well or they get muddy really easily. This didn’t seem to do that. It went on well and blended nicely. I was able to create a beautiful look with this palette.

The shadows in this palette are nice to add to your travel bag because you can get several different looks with one palette. These shadows aren’t necessarily a “daily look” for everyone. But, they’re great for nights out or if your feeling shifty. Grab this while you’re looking!

E.L.F. Cosmetics are often forgotten about in my area! Our walmart just recently started carrying the line again. Also, Target recently started carrying way more too! So far these are the products that are my top faves. I’m looking forward to trying more and testing out some more!

Their website is full of products I haven’t seen! Plus, you get free shipping on online orders over $25.00. Do you KNOW how much makeup you get for $25!?! Winner!

What are your favorite E.L.F. products? Have you tried any of these? Let me know what products your recommend!

10 Products Under $10.00

Makeup Products

Makeup Products a tricky thing, ya know? It’s hard for me sometimes to spend money on makeup. Even if it is “cheap” makeup, sometimes I think I am not spending $XX.XX on that! What if I don’t like that!? Then again, depending on my mood, other times I’m like heck yeah! $XX.XX! That’s a great deal. I do love trying new makeup. I love seeing how it lasts on my face and how it wears. I’ve compiled you guys a list of 10 Products under $10.00. This is an entire face of makeup for $50(ish)!!

10 Makeup Products Under $10.00!

1. Primer:
Maybelline Face Studio Master Prime – $7.19

10 under $10Application

You all know Nivea Post Shave Balm is my ride or die, tried and true makeup primer. It does all I need it to and more. BUT, for you all, I tried something new. I’ve actually been eyeing this primer for a while. I have watched several youtube beauty gals try the Master Conceal and loved it.  No one seems to be trying the primer. I love it. It feels so smooth on the skin and has a bit of a silicone feel. In my experience, silicone primers hold my foundation on the best when my face is extra oily.  The Blur + Illuminate (the pink) has 30 SPF in it. Don’t make me explain how important sunscreen for your face is!

Why Should I use a Primer?

Primer is very important. It preps your skin and smooths smooths out your skin. Many foundations have moisturizers in them to help keep your skin hydrated throughout the whole day. Also, sunscreen in a huge plus. This specific primer has sunscreen in it to protect your skin from damage. We often don’t think about our skin getting damaged from the sun if we’re not spending lots of time in the sun but driving, walking outside, even being by a window can expose you to sun damage. Primer also keeps your foundation on, helps make your foundation apply easier, and prevents separation on your skin. It takes no extra time. okay, like 4 seconds.
Application: Apply first. Small amount on tips of fingers apply all over face. Proceed with makeup routine.

2. Foundation:
Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation– $4.99

10 under $10I have tried lots of foundations because I rarely buy the same one twice unless I LOVE it. This foundation though… I have repurchased and repurchased. It is a little thick on the skin. It doesn’t feel thick; it’s very comfortable to wear. It’s definitely full coverage too. I like to feel like I don’t really have makeup on! This foundation does that for me.

My face it’s normal to dry. This specific foundation doesn’t make my skin look dry. It keeps a dewy look. Let me explain since the title of the foundation is Stay Matte.. it doesn’t get oily/ super shiny looking. It is a healthy, hydrated look. If you don’t like the dewy finish, simply setting your foundation with powder will mattify the finish. The Stay Matte Foundation doesn’t have sunscreen in it but, with the Master Prime we applied previously we are getting SPF from that. This foundation is under $5.00. In my opinion, your not going to find a better foundation for the price.

Why Should I use Foundation:

Depending on the amount of coverage you feel like you need, foundation will cover your blemishes and even out your skin color. If you’re like me my cheeks have a lot of redness, foundation covers, corrects, and “fades” out that redness to give me a neutral base to contour, apply bronzer and blushes without accentuating my redness.  Honestly, I don’t love thick foundation. I like thin, medium coverage foundation. UNLESS, my face is breaking out, my under eyes are dark, or I’m wearing a bold look. I’m often a BB Cream Gal. Lately, I have been using this foundation and I do L-O-V-E it. Even though it goes against everything I like.

: Use a damp beauty sponge. It seems to make this foundation less dense. Starting in my T – Zone I blend out toward my hairline and jawline. If you don’t get full coverage in your T-Zone its not serious because you go over that with concealer.
Note: If your eye shadow has a lot of fall out I would wait to apply foundation until after you have done your shadow. If you do choose to skip this step place it in after you have primed your eyes and applied your shadow. once that is complete, start with your foundation and work through the products for your face. Come back at the end to line your eyes and apply mascara.

3. Concealer:
Maybelline New York Super Stay Better Skin Concealer + Corrector – $7.82

10 under $10

I really prefer certain concealers. You could say I’m a makeup snob. I like the coverage, consistency, and longevity of many of the luxury concealers I have used. 1. they don’t fit in the under $10. 2. This concealer is pretty killer. The consistency of this concealer is very wearable. It’s not too thick but offers GREAT coverage. The wear factor is very nice and comfortable. It doesn’t sit uncomfortably on my skin. This concealer feels very moisturizing under my eyes and doesn’t separate between my brows. Whether I bake my under eyes or just set them, this concealer still feels so nice on! It also works fabulously as a shadow primer.

Why should I use Concealer:

Concealer is something I’ll use sometimes instead of using Foundation all over my face. If I’m rushing and don’t want to put on a full face of makeup concealer is a great grab and go. It brightens your under eyes. Concealer will also hide dark circles and even out coloring. If you choose a shade slightly lighter than your foundation you can use it to accentuate your nose, chin and under eyes.

Application: I always use a damp beauty sponge to blend out my concealer. It helps with blendability and uniformity of your makeup even though your foundation and concealer are different colors. I apply to my undereyes, the bridge of my nose, between my eyebrows, and my chin. Simply blend out into my foundation. I use concealer to prime my eyes as well. Instead of using a shadow primer, concealer is a great primer to use. If you don’t prime your eyes.. you should try it.

4. Shadow: Maybelline Eyeshadow Palette – $8.98

10 under $10
After you have primed your eyelids, start with this shadow. This is a great nude palette. It blends nicely without looking muddy (too blended and looking all the same color) With a primer you can really make the colors of this palette stand out. I think I primer is almost undebatable when using drugstore shadows. If you see your shadow creasing in your eyes or not lasting al day, primer is needed. I use this palette fairly regularly. It has plenty of shadow colors and finish options. I find that a lot of palettes I look at at the drug store have all shimmers. Not everyone (or every age, I’m sorry) can wear shimmers. It is good to have some matte shades to balance out a look. This palette has all those options.

Why Should I use Eyeshadow:

Eyeshadow carves out your eyes and accentuates your eye shape while adding color and pop to your makeup look.

5. Blush: Wet n Wild Coloricon Blush – Mellow Wine– $2.93

10 under $10

This Line of blushes (for the price) is to die for. I love these shades. I first tried out mellow wine. It’s a light bronze coral. This is pretty complimentary of my skin color. There are 5 different shades. I see myself getting them all before its all said and done. The 2017 blush trend is very bold and exaggerated. ( very 80s ) There are a few that I have my eye on Like this one and this one and yes, even this one. I love a bold cheek with barely there eyes. In my opinion these blushes are buildable. A little goes a long way. The first time I used the Mellow Wine shade I was a little heavy handed. These blushes are smooth and highly pigmented. They last all day and don’t move on my face.

Why Should I use Blush:

Blush adds color to your face that would naturally be there from the rosiness of your cheeks. It gives life to your makeup and brightens up your face. Too much blush could make you look like you’re living in the 80s but, 2017 bold blush is making a comeback!

6. Bronzer: e.l.f. Bronzer Palette – $6.00

10 under $10

There’s a lot of Bronzers I love. I chose this one for the longevity of the product, obviously the price and then one more reason. I use more than 10 products on my face but I wanted you to have all your needs (only 10 and all under $10.00) This palette in particular is multpurpose. There’s a wonderful array of shades in this SIX DOLLAR palette. The powder is smooth. It’s not gritty or patchy. There’s also 2 shimmers and 2 mattes. This doesn’t move on my face and it does the job. I love the shimmer bronzers because they kind of double as a bronzing highlight.

Why should I use Bronzer:

Your foundation and concealer has completely removed all of your color. Therefore, your face looks “flat” by using bronzer you’re adding natural color and life to your face. Bronzer helps carve out your face and give you a more 3D look. It helps give your face shape. Adding a bronzing highlight will bring a little attention to those areas such as your cheek bones.

I apply the bronzer (lightly) to directly under my cheek bones below my blush. You can always add more bronzer but you don’t want to look too bronzed. if you contour instead of bronze… heres a good palette for under $10.00..
I use my contour color in the same place as I would my bronzer but also on the sides of my nose and in my hairline.

7. Lip Color: Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipstick – $4.28
10 under $10

I have had this specific color ( Cherry Bomb ) for a while. It’s even been bought it multiple times. I love the Mega Last Lipstick. It’s a super matte, long lasting lipstick. It doesn’t bleed or stain my lips like some drug store brands I’ve used and this lipstick doesn’t stain my lips. It is slightly drying so I always moisturize my lips before using it and put on chapstick before I apply it. I love it however, you kind of have to work with applying it when you’ve had it a while because the formula drags a bit on the lips. Right after purchase, its glorious and applies great!

Why Should I use Lipstick:

Lipstick helps frame out your face in a sense. It finishes out the look. Lipstick makes you feel pretty.

8. Brows: Wet n Wild Color Icon Brow Pencil – $4.61 ($1.99)

10 under $10

Oh, eyebrows. For a long while I avoided the trend. I didn’t want to be on the bandwagon. Then, I jumped on it and I jumped on it with full force. I love this brow pencil. I like that its a true pencil and must be sharpened. This brow pencil gives you the best of both worlds. You can make your brows feathery toward the middle and fill them in nicely as the pencil begins to dull. This specific formula isn’t waxy. It goes on super smooth and doesn’t drag or get patchy. I bought it for $1.99 at walmart but on their website it says its $4.61. weird.

Why should I fill in my eyebrows:

This is a subject I’m dying to speak about. I think I’ll even post about it. Eyebrows, like I said about lipstick, really does complete your look. It frames out your face and gives you more definition to your face. It gives you a nice transition into your forehead. Also, in photographs your makeup looks completed with your eyebrows filled in.

9. Liner: CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Self-Sharpening Eye Pencil – $4.94

10 Products under $10

I have used this liner for a long, long time. Although, it is about $5.00 if you love lash blast mascara you can get them together fairly frequently. I love this eyeliner because it glides on smoothly and smudges out nicely. It doesn’t irritate my eyes if I apply it to my water line. It lasts nicely and I can make it look blended and smoked out instead of harsh and dark. This is great for your lower lash line. If you want a more sharp distinct liner for your upper lash line this isn’t the liner for that.

Why should I use Eyeliner:

Using liner is tricky. Eyeliner can and should open up and define your eyes. I say IT’s tricky because if too much is used your actually working against yourself by making your eye looked more closed and less defined. You are going for a defined look not black holes. 🙂 I like a blended out look without a defined line on the lower lash line. On my upper lash line I want dramatic, sharp liner.

: I apply from outer corner to about halfway to my inner corner and blend out with the tip. I apply in my water line to define my eyes and make more of a statement.

10. Mascara: Maybelline New York Great Lash BIG Washable Mascara – $4.44

10 Products under $10

This is a mascara I find myself going back to often. I love L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black for dramatic bold lashes. But this is great to just toss in your purse and give you natural looking lashes. I love this mascara because it makes my lashes longer without making them super clumpy. That means no spider lashes here. It’s great to lift your lashes and open up your eyes. It comes off so easily but stays on all day without flaking.
These are all products close to my heart. Saving money is a perk, always! It’s even better if you’re saving money and the products are worth it! I think it’s a great feeling when you can find a cheap product that does the work of the higher product! It’s not always doable and rarely reasonable to spend between $20-$50 on one makeup item much less have a whole collection of high end makeup. I can justify spending money on makeup sometimes and other times I want the cheaper option. Some say you get what you pay for and I agree with that to some extent but with these products you’re getting more than you pay for! Let me know if you try these product out or what your favorites are under $10!

Wet N Wild Liquid Lipstick Review

Liquid Lipstick

Wet N Wild Mega Last Liquid Lipstick has been all the rage on the internet for a few months now. I first heard about their new products through one of my favorite youtubers, Kathleen Lights. She was testing out their foundation in that specific video. I did a little research and found Wet N Wild had launched several new products. Honestly, I’ll try anything Kathleen Lights recommends. The Wet N Wild Products struck me because they’re cheap and several other youtubers gave them high recommendations. I love Liquid Lipsticks so I have been searching for these products everywhere!

Why I love Liquid Lipsticks:

I have been STALKING Walgreens since I found out about these liquid lipsticks. If you haven’t tried out liquid lipsticks, you should. I am too lazy to continuously reline and apply lipstick over and over throughout the day. The longevity of Liquid Lipsticks is what keeps me coming back for more! I don’t have to be too cautious when I eat or drink. They don’t bleed around my lips. I love a matte lip. I know glosses are coming back in style, that and everything else from the 90s. I’m still on the matte lip train. Matte lips so beautiful with a bold eye! Even when I wear a simple makeup look I still love a matte lip.

Liquid Lipstick
Wet N Wild MegaLast Liquid Lipstick

The formula so nice! It’s super easy to apply. The consistency is thin so it doesn’t pull or drag when you’re applying. It applies like a lip gloss but dries down to a matte finish. The MegaLast Liquid Lipsticks give very vivid color. They’re nicely pigmented and offer great coverage! It doesn’t dry down completely but it’s not tacky enough to be uncomfortable.

Why I love Wet N Wild Liquid Lipstick:
Easy to Get:

The reason Wet N’ Wild’s new lip crazy grabbed my attention is because I can grab them at the drugstore. They don’t have to be ordered or waited on like my other favorite liquid lippy. I eagerly await anything ordered online. That’s the downfall of online shopping. I love being able to buy something and immediately be able to put it to use. Wet N Wild Mega Last, I can do that! If I need a certain color to make a look great I don’t have to settle for another less great lip formula to complete my look. I can just stop in the drugstore and grab the color I need.

The price IS unbeatable! I purchased these at Walgreens for $3.99. I’ve never seen a liquid lipstick cheaper then that! They are phenomenal for the price. You know I love a good deal. These are the epitome of a great deal. For the price, you won’t get anything better.

Liquid Lipstick
Wet N Wild MegaLast Catsuit Matte Lipstick

I did a little test. One day at the salon I swatched the lipsticks on my hand. I washed 3 heads of hair and washed my hands several times. By 6:00 that night they were still on my hand as if I had just applied them. These liquid lipsticks even lasted through a shower. I didn’t scrub them to try to get them off, nonetheless the stayed.

They felt very nice on my lips. They weren’t uncomfortable to wear like some liquid lipsticks I have tried. Liquid Lipsticks are not known for their moisturizing abilities. This lipstick is no different. I didn’t feel as though my lips were dry like the Sahara Desert but they weren’t feeling like they’d just been exfoliated and had a moisture treatment. Mega Last didn’t cause my lips to dry or flake nor did they feel dry or flaky once I removed them after wearing them.

I purchases four shades. The colors I grabbed went from one extreme to the other. Initially, I was looking for a good nude lip but there were too many choices. The color choices they offer is wide range. I believe there are 13 shades. Wet N Wild provides such great options. There are colors available for the makeup girls who error on the side of caution or the girls who pick lip color with reckless abandonment. I love them all. It was really hard for me to pick.

My Picks:

I couldn’t pass up Video Vixen; A deep burgundy that is so fun in the winter months. This color makes any look more dramatic. I love dark lip colors. I couldn’t say no! Berry Recognize was a great balance of “dark” meets bright. It’s not too bright for my taste but still has a darker twist on your typical berry lip colors. Coral Corruption may, shockingly, be my favorite. It’s such a bright fun color. I tend to stray away from bright colors for some reason. This color on is so beautiful and lively. Last, but not least, Nudie Patootie. What I was actually searching for. A true nude lip color is hard to find. I love this color. Nudes are so good for everyday. Wet N Wild killed it on this nude lip! I’m dying over all these colors.

Wet N Wild has made a heavy comeback. They’ve mastered the art of Liquid Lipsticks! Of all their new products I’ve tried this is one of my favorites. I’m reviewing their other products to do a review soon. Stay Tuned for that! Try them out and let me know what you think! Which are your favorites!?

My 5 Minute Morning

5 Minute Mornings

You know those mornings that go so smoothly? You get up, take the dog out and enjoy the crisp morning air. Then, you watch your show on tv while you sip your coffee. Proceed to get ready. No? Me neither.. Mine usually go like this..”5 more minutes” as I hit the snooze button, again. It’s past time to wash your hair. There’s remnants of yesterday’s makeup left over on my face. I’ve gotta take the dog out and shower. The jeans I planned on wearing are dirty. 5 Minute Morning..

5 Products I reach for on a 5 Minute Morning..

IGK Jet Lag Invisible Dry Shampoo5 Minute Mornings

I can’t speak highly enough for this stuff. I’ve actually posted about it before (Twice). As a matter of fact you’re probably sick of hearing about it. Being dark headed it is very common for dry shampoo to discolor my hair or not make it look clean. This dry shampoo cures both of those problems! It doesn’t leave my hair with a residue AND it makes my hair look and feel clean!

**You can actually pick this up from me at YaYa’s Salon and Boutique!

Equate Beauty Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

5 Minute MorningsWhen yesterday’s makeup is smeared down your face because you’re a girl and things happen.. These makeup remover wipes are fantastic to remove all that left over makeup. Even on days that I’m not in a rush I like to wipe off my makeup with these before washing my face. At walmart you can buy them in different sizes. The link I shared comes with 125 wipes total but they’re packaged in separate packs. I hate my makeup wipes not holding their moisture. Although, buying them in the box is a bit more expensive I feel I get 100% use out of each wipe. When I purchased the bigger packages I end up having to use more than one wipe to remove all my makeup because they dry out. A Smaller package is so much more travel friendly as well.

NYX HD Photogenic Concealer Wand

5 Minute Mornings

Holy Moly. This would be a #youtubemademebuyit for sure! I can’t say I hate it! Actually, I love it! I use this when I’m in a hurry because I bought a shade too dark for my under eyes so I use this as a foundation of sorts. I apply this under my eyes and in my T-Zone when I’m in a rush and buff out with a damp beauty sponge. It covers all my blemishes and discoloration and it lasts all day! And If I really needed that 5 more minutes of sleep this takes care of my dark circles too.

L’Oreal Voluminous Primer

 AND L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara

5 Minute Mornings

This is one of those things your mom used so you just used it by default. This (among many things) is also one of those things that should be filed under Mother knows best.. This primer and mascara combo is to die for. I could go on and on. It dries quickly, removal is easy, and it makes my eyelashes look glorious. The mascara alone is pretty great as far as volume and length go but add the primer and you’re in for a real treat.

I may not look my best on those 5 minute mornings but with the products I’m not look my worst! What are your 5 minute mornings you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to try them out!

Nivea Post Shave Balm or Nivea Makeup Primer

Post Shave Balm // Makeup Primer

Per Kylie Jenner (and a lot of other people apparently) Nivea Post Shave Balm is the best primer for your makeup. So, I’ll give it a try, I thought. You may be thinking, aftershave? If Kylie Jenner says it’s worth it then, who am I to deny my skin that luxury? I wouldn’t say my skin is sensitive but I often choose things for sensitive skin just to be safe. In my mind it helps with breakouts.. maybe it does.. maybe it doesn’t.. Long Story short. Everyone is using this as a makeup primer and I’m late to the Nivea party apparently. Here’s what I discovered.

Nivea Post Shave Balm
According to the Pros ( I.e. )

“Extra gentle formula specifically developed for men with sensitive skin..”

 – Helps protect skin from shaving irritations
– Improve skin’s condition over time
– Formulated with no drying alcohol
– Lightly fragranced

Contains: vitamin E. camomile. witch hazel.

So, I did a little research for you..

Vitamin E is a glorified antioxidant. It’s a nutrient for your skin.Nivea Post Shave Balm
It blocks free radicals from your skin too. It helps slow the development of
wrinkles and keeps your skin looking young. It can be used on wrinkles, cuticles, brown spots, dry skin and lips. (My mom has beautiful skin. She takes a vitamin E capsule regularly.)

Chamomile is claimed to be one of the best skin care herbs. It’s used to help treat eczema and chicken pox. It’s anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal. It’s said to neutralize skin irritations too.

Witch Hazel helps reduce inflammation and irritation caused by acne or blemishes. You can use it to help fade bruises and puffy eyes. It refreshes skin and helps skin retain moisture.
It’s used to treat things such as eczema, psoriasis, razor burn, and sunburn.

According to Lynlee

I used it on my face, my neck, and my arms. TBH: Kind of an impulse purchase because I saw that Kylie Jenner used it. The winter has done some things to my skin. It’s never oily but it is by no means dry! I have been using this since the summer and honestly, I loved it all through the summer. Since Winter has my skin 100 kinds of dried out, I have been using it twice a day! I apply it when I first get out of the shower let sit until slightly tacky (not completely dry) then, apply my makeup.

Shaved my legs. (I mean it IS post shave balm, right?) I applied to my freshly shaved, slightly dry legs. I have a problem with my legs staying moisturizer. My skin seems to just soak up whatever I put on them and still end up looking dry. This kept my legs smooth and hydrated all day. So, I put the shave balm on my legs, arms, face, and neck.

Thoughts as a moisturizer:

Being fresh out of a shower and applying this to clean skin made me love it even more. It didn’t feel sticky on my legs. They felt smooth and soft. My skin looked moisturized and smooth. My foundation applied smoothly and consistently.

Thoughts as a makeup primer:

I tried a different foundation today to see if it was just luck or if it really was as great as it seemed. I used Bare Minerals liquid foundation. I haven’t been truly impressed with that foundation so I thought maybe it’s my primer. It wasn’t totally the primer but the shave balm worked again. My makeup didn’t have the same smoothness as other foundations I’ve tested it with but overall at the end of the day I was still pretty impressed by the primer. It’s dry in Arkansas winter and so is my skin.. My foundation still looks smooth after a 12 hour day. That you cannot complain about, people!  *tells everyone how great this stuff is* My boyfriend uses it. My dad uses it. My sister and my mom use it too!

Nivea Post Shave Balm- According to Lynlee*

I carry this balm with me everywhere. As soon as the weather started to dry out, my skin did too! I started noticing dry patches around my nose and on my forehead. I have started using it even more now than I did in the summer. I find the moisturizer in it very effective. If you’ve tried several primers and aren’t sold on any or if you don’t find primer necessary.. I encourage you to try it. I have used Mac Prep and Prime for my shadow and foundation most consistently. I do love them but for a price. I have tried bare minerals prime time and prime time corrective color and originalsmashbox photo finish as well as many over the counter primers as well. If you’re trying to save money or maybe you aren’t. Maybe you want a multi use product.. For $5 you aren’t going to find something more effective and impressive.. That’s according to Lynlee.

What are some of your favorite primers you’ve tried? Why do you love them?
